Second in person SURFICE meeting for training school at Milan, Italy

The SURFICE team met in person for the second time during July 4 to July 8, 2022 at University of Milano-Bicocca. The event, planned as a training school, was hosted by prof. Carlo Antonini (project coordinator), Dr. Irene Tagliaro (project manager), Luca Stendardo (ESR1) and Anny Catalina Ospina (ESR2).

During this training school, ESRs participated in technical workshops instructed by academic and industrial experts. The topics included ice formation and accretion, icephobicity and surface-related characteristics, icing phenomenon issues and solutions in specific industries and applications. In addition to technical and scientific workshops, ESRs had the opportunity to learn more about scientific illustration and the application of this technique for presenting their scientific results.

Furthermore, the synchronization meeting of ESRs took place and they updated the ITN regarding their latest findings and achievements. An important part of this training school was the entrepreneurial training workshop. Here, the ESRs started their journey of learning entrepreneurial and communication competencies to implement them in their future careers. ESRs’ forum meeting and social activities were the other parts of this training school.

The team looks forward to the next training school, soon to be held in Germany!
